Alex Brychta and Roderick Hunt MBE with their prestigious award

Series Creators of Oxford Reading Tree‚ Roderick Hunt MBE and Alex Brychta‚ receive the prestigious Outstanding Achievement Award in this year’s Education Resources Awards.

“The winners of the Outstanding Achievement Award 2009 have truly transformed the landscape of literacy and publishing.

They have worked together for 25 years creating and developing a programme that is now universally known by literally millions in more than 120 countries.

The judges said that they have not only hugely influenced children’s literacy but have moved forward the standards to be set in the development of reading materials from a textual and a visual point of view.

Their work was ground–breaking when it moved away from the traditional look–and–say schemes of the time‚ and introduced children to exciting‚ bite–sized stories that they not only could read‚ but which they wanted to read.

And now ... who has not heard of or learned to read with Biff‚ Chip‚ Kipper and Floppy the dog?

The judges had not hesitation in giving this Award to the series creators of Oxford Reading Tree‚ Roderick Hunt (MBE) and Alex Brychta”.
