Julia Donaldson has been writing stories and songs since she was very young. She has worked as a singer and songwriter, mainly for children's television, during which time she became an expert at writing to order on such subjects as guinea pigs, window-cleaning and horrible smells!
Her favourite book is Watership Down by Richard Adams. She enjoys walking, cycling, playing the piano and singing. She has three cats who like to walk all over whatever she has written with their muddy paws.
Oxford University Press is delighted to have Julia Donaldson bring her unique writing talents to the Oxford Reading Tree Songbirds Phonics
